Murder of Richard Oland
The Killing of Richard Oland occurred on July 6, 2011. Richard Oland, a New Brunswick businessman and member of the Order of Canada, was found dead in his Saint John, New Brunswick office on July 7, 2011. His son, Dennis Oland, has been charged with second degree murder.

On July 7, 2011, Richard Oland's body was found in his office in Uptown Saint John. The Toronto Star reported that he was bludgeoned to death with an axe.〔http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2011/07/12/former_moosehead_beer_exec_killed_with_axe_source_says.html〕 In point of fact, "the pathologist who performed the autopsy on Richard Oland's body could not determine what weapon — or weapons — were used to kill him."
Oland suffered 40 sharp and blunt force injuries to his head and neck and six defensive wounds to his hands.
Oland had last been seen at 6 p.m. the previous evening.
